How to use this calculator well

  1. Paste your actual current headline and About — what you have now, not what you'd like it to be.
  2. Target role keyword matters — recruiter search is keyword-based. Match the role title in the job description.
  3. Length is constrained: 220 chars for headline, 2,600 for About. Aim for scannable, not exhaustive.
  4. US recruiters scan top-to-bottom: role → school → visa status → specialism.

Frequently asked questions

Should I put my visa status?

Yes if you're OPT/CPT and need sponsorship. US recruiters will skip your profile if the line 'sponsorship not needed' is missing.

Should I use emojis?

Yes sparingly — they break up text visually. Avoid more than 2.

Personal pronouns?

Optional. Most students opt-in to 'He/Him' or 'She/Her'. Not required, but adds accessibility.
